Citizens for Safe Water Around Badger (CSWAB) works to support, unify, and strengthen citizens concerned for the safety of water resources in and around the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. Their goal is to build a sustainable future, which will preserve, and where possible, restore the integrity of natural systems - including soils, water, air, and biological diversity.
Recently, concentrations of explosives and other contaminants are rapidly increasing in groundwater at Badger Army Ammunition Plant and surrounding areas. CSWAB wrote various recommendations to expand the testing of residential drinking wells to include break down products of DNT, which are not included in current testing protocols, in order to press the Army and state regulators for a swift response to new laboratory test results. From 1993-2005 CSWAB received $23,100 in grants from Wisconsin Community Fund.
