In 2007-2008 Wisconsin Community Fund marked its 25th year of social justice grantmaking in our state. Over those 25 years, we have been true to our original purpose, namely: to raise money and give it away to progressive groups that are too new, too small, or too controversial for consideration by mainstream funders.
In addition to recognizing our silver anniversary, we also spent time strategizing for the future. After taking stock of the current environment for social justice grantmaking, we reconfirmed our sense that no other organization supports grassroots social change in our state the way Wisconsin Community Fund does. What we agreed to do for next three years is to do what we have always done, only better. Specifically, we’ve set ourselves the ambitious goal of doubling our general fund grantmaking over the next three years.
The fact that you are visiting our web site gives us hope that you will join us and reaffirm your personal commitment to progressive social change in Wisconsin. With your involvement, we can continue to carry out the inherent genius of our founding donors: that harnessing the power of progressive donors and community activists is an effective way to support emerging social change organizations. With your continued support, Wisconsin Community Fund will continue to make “change, not charity” for the next 25 years.
